Orcas Island Park and Recreation District welcomes new executive director; bids farewell to Terri Rodgers

The Orcas Island Park and Recreation District is pleased to announce the appointment of Kim Ihlenfeldt as its new Executive Director. As we welcome Kim back to OIPRD, we also extend our heartfelt gratitude to outgoing Executive Director Terri Rodgers for her impeccable service and contributions to our community.

During her tenure, Terri Rodgers played a crucial role in the success of OIPRD. With her extensive background in government and taxing districts, she stepped into this integral position and helped steer the organization through periods of growth and change. Her leadership and dedication became the glue that held together and advanced the mission of OIPRD, ensuring our parks and recreational programs continued to thrive. The entire community is grateful for her commitment, and we wish her the very best in her future endeavors.

Taking over the reins is Kim Ihlenfeldt, who brings a wealth of experience and a deep connection to Orcas Island. Kim is no stranger to OIPRD, having previously worked as an assistant and then as interim director during a past leadership transition. In addition to her time with parks and rec, Kim expanded her career by working with the Port of Orcas and the Orcas Island Fire and Rescue, honing skills critical to overseeing complex budgets, managing tax districts, and ensuring the continued development of community programs.

Kim’s expertise makes her an ideal fit for the role, and we are excited for the future under her leadership. As the district grows, OIPRD currently serves around 2000 households on the island, and our recreational offerings continue to expand, providing invaluable services to the island’s residents.

Recreation is a cornerstone of community well-being, and we look forward to the continued success and growth of OIPRD under Kim Ihlenfeldt’s direction.
