They came in colors and danced the night away.
“Imagine,” Orcas Center’s Beatles-era fundraiser on July 18, raised the performing arts organization $71,000.
There were 180 guests, 30 sponsors and more than 125 volunteers who helped make it happen. Guests enjoyed a three-course dinner under an outdoor tent and participated in an auction that generated $45,000. Some of the money went to the Animal Protection Society, Orcas Island Education Foundation, Orcas Medical Center Foundation, and the Music Advocacy Group, as winning bidders had the option to direct up to half of net proceeds to another Orcas nonprofit.
The night ended with a performance by Abbey Road LIVE, followed by a dance party with DJ Bruce Pavitt. Few in attendance could resist the urge to dance, as the sounds of the Beatles filled the center’s theatre.
