Orcas Montessori School will be offering its annual summer program for children ages 3 ½ through 7. Summer program activities include art, music, Spanish, cooking, nature study and lots of outdoor play time.
The summer program will run Monday through Thursdays, June 26 through Aug. 3. Tuition is $105 per week for the ½ day program (9:00 a.m. to 1 p.m.) and $180 per week for the full day program which ends at 4 PM. Parents may sign up in advance for specific weeks during this period with a minimum enrollment of 4 weeks required for each child during the program. A deposit of $105 will secure your child’s place in the program.
The school says it is delighted to have Robin Freeman and Emily McGerty lead the morning program and Jessie Gonzales as the afternoon teacher. Freeman has led many OMS summer school programs and also works as English Language Learner para-professional in the public school; McGerty is the current OMS Assistant Guide. Gonzales, a Funhouse staff member and an experienced preschool educator, helped to run the OMS 2016 summer program. She had so much fun that she is joining the OMS team again.
Orcas Montessori School is also accepting registration for its fall 2017 program. Parents are encouraged to make an appointment to observe the school if they have never been in the classroom before. Seeing the children in action in the classroom is a delight and helps parents understand the uniqueness of a Montessori approach to early childhood education. Orcas Montessori’s web site – www.orcasmontessori.org – is also a resource to learn more about the school.
