Mystery novelist Sara Williams, whose third mystery is “One Big Itch,” has been selected as a guest panelist at the Miami Book Fair International, one of the most prominent book events in the nation. She will appear on Saturday, Nov. 14.
“I’m very fortunate to be invited to be a panelist. The Miami Book Fair is a happening,” Williams said. “It’s not only an honor to be invited, but also great fun. I look forward to meeting so many authors whom I greatly admire, and chatting with mystery fans who join in.”
Williams will share tips, quips, and anecdotes about the mystery genre with other notable authors and mystery fans.
“One Big Itch” is set in the upscale, academic world of Honolulu, a Polynesian city dating from the 12th century. Honolulu absorbed input from other cultures and eventually spawned a sophisticated academic milieu which produced President Barack Obama among other progressive thinkers.
Reviewers around the nation have noted “One Big Itch” for its characterization, plotting, and lush tropical detail. The novel offers maps, charts, and a glossary of colorful Hawaiian words.
Williams’ first novel, “The Don Juan Con,” was optioned by Robert Evans for Paramount Studios. Her second, “The Serenoa Scandal,” the prequel to “One Big Itch,” is set in Florida’s Okeechobee country.
Williams spends her winters in Fort Myers, Florida, and her summers in the San Juan Islands. She has ties to Hawaii that go back over thirty years. She teaches at The Peace River Center for Writing of Edison State College in Port Charlotte, Florida.
Williams will sign books at Harbor Bookstore in Friday Harbor from 1:00 to 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 10, at Borders Express in Cascade Mall in Burlington on Oct. 24 from 1 to 3 p.m., and at Village Books in Bellingham on Saturday, Oct. 31 from 2 to 4 p.m.
