The Farm to Cafeteria Program will feature Allium owner Lisa Nakamura as its Celebrity Lunch Chef at the school cafeteria on Thursday, Nov. 18. The menu is Nakamura’s version of chicken teriyaki along with stir-fry veggies, rice and a brownie. And, of course, a salad from the local produce salad bar.
From her life as a prep cook with no experience, studies in botany, years as a flight attendant, stints in Germany and Korea, and studies at The Herbfarm, Nakamura brought her passion for fresh, healthy food to Orcas Island when she purchased Christina’s.
“Now I have the privilege of carrying on the torch for Christina Orchid, whom I have admired from a distance for so many years,” Nakamura said.
“We’re excited that Lisa consented to join the talented group of F2C Celebrity Chefs working with our crack cafeteria staff this year,” said Madie Murray, F2C Program Chair.
December 16 will feature another new Celebrity Chef this year, Madden Surbaugh of the Quilted Pig at Rosario.
