Northwest Puppet Center is bringing a version of “Thumbelina,” performed by Oregon Shadow Theatre, to the San Juan Islands.

The performance on Lopez will be Saturday, May 28 at 2 p.m. at Lopez Community Center and at Friday Harbor on Sunday, May 29 at 2 p.m. at the Marie Boe Theatre on the San Juan County Fairgrounds.

Tickets for the Lopez show are available in advance at Blossoms and Islehaven Books and at the door.  Tickets for the Friday Harbor show are available in advance at the San Juan County Fairgrounds office and at the door.

Oregon Shadow Theatre brings their award-winning combination of intricate, brightly colored shadow puppets and live music on hammer dulcimer, electric guitar and a crazy assortment of percussion and sound effects. Thumbelina is one of Hans Christian Andersen’s most beloved characters, a miniature girl born from a flower who has to find her own way in the world of nature.
