Stella Bell will read from and discuss her recently published novel “Red Velvet Letters” at the Orcas Island Library on Tuesday, July 20 at 3 p.m. Stella wrote three autobiographical novels 25 years ago, and this is the first one to be published.

Orcas Island Community Church is offering a summer calendar of free kids activities, including a sports camp and workshops where kids and their families can learn about art, music, science, nature, crafts and more. Scheduled events run from June 28 through August 28.
The Orcas School Board will hold a special meeting on July 7, with a workshop with the Budget Advisory Committee.
