The Sons of the American Legion (S.A.L. Squadron #93) will be hosting a fundraiser on Friday, Nov. 18 at the Post home, located at 793 Crescent Beach Drive. They will be serving a Prime Rib Dinner from 6 – 8 p.m. Adult tickets are $25 each, child $12 each and the public is invited (the lounge is open to members and guests only).
The Sons of the American Legion, of the Voyle B. Martin Post 93, was organized and led to its charter by post member Roger Congdon on November 22, 2002. The original charter was signed by 20 charter members.
The Sons have held many fund raisers throughout the 14 years since its inception to give help and support to our community and Post. The fund raisers have consisted of bingo, Outpost barbeques, and other miscellaneous events. Each year we make two trips (Fall and Spring) to the mainland to purchase shoes for Orcas children-80 plus pair each trip. The Sons also accept donations to the “Shoes for Kids” project throughout the year.
New this year is collecting athletic and regular tennis shoes that are in very good condition. You may bring these shoes to the post home anytime.
The Sons are also involved with the Post and Auxiliary units for military funerals, parades, and many other Veteran support activities.
“We feel it takes a full team of volunteers in all units to make the kind of difference in our community that the American Legion is well known for,” say organizers.
