This much awaited, must see, sell-out event of the year is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 7, 2009 at the Orcas Center. Talented local performers will return for this show which organizers say is a, “light-hearted, feel-good version of the popular television show “American Idol.”
In the Orcas version, the audience is empowered to choose the Orcas Idol by voting for their favorite singer or duo (new this year). The singers will perform karoke-style.
The winner will receive $200 cash prize donated by Radio Shack and a professional recording session.
“This fun, family event benefits the Orcas Island Prevention Partnership (OIPP),” said Moriah Armstrong.
Sign-up for auditions is at The Funhouse on Jan. 8,” Armstrong said.
On Jan. 24 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Grange, Orcas Junior kids will compete (formerly The Idolette) and a winner will be announced to perform at the adult competition on Feb 7. at 7:30 p.m..
Tickets will go on sale on Jan. 24. More information is available at www.spotlightonthepositive.com.
