Orcas Center is pleased to present Orcas High School Student, Ellie Wright’s senior project “Returning Focus,” running in the Black Box April 4 to 6 at 7 p.m., and April 7 at 2 p.m.
Embark on a journey of grief, self-discovery, and womanhood in “Returning Focus,” a new play written and directed by Ellie Wright, featuring the Orcas Dance Collective.
Following the loss of her mother, a woman and her daughter grapple not only with their relationships with the late matriarch but their relationship with one another. In a blend of dialogue and dance, “Returning Focus” explores the complexities of grief as the duo navigate the tumultuous path of disconnection, reconnection, and ultimately, understanding.
Wright is a senior in high school and has lived on Orcas Island her entire life. She is involved in both the Junior Dance Collective and the high school newspaper The Viking Voice. “Returning Focus” is the culmination of a lifelong love for dance, writing, and storytelling.
