The Salish Sea Early Music Festival will present its second 2011 program on Feb. 6 and 7 as guitarist Oleg Timofeyev and flutist Jeffrey Cohan explore two distinct worlds of musical expression in “Irish and Scottish Baroque and the Russian guitar.”

On Feb. 6 the duo will play at the Orcas Island Odd Fellows Hall at 1:30 p.m. and at San Juan Island’s St. David’s Church at 7 p.m.; they’ll play at 7 p.m. on Feb. 7 at Lopez Island’s Grace Church

The repertoire includes early 18-century Scottish and Irish works for the one-keyed wooden baroque flute with lute; and Russian and European compositions from Beethoven’s time, played on an eight-keyed lute made in London in 1820 and a Russian seven-string guitar.

A $15 donation to cover expenses is suggested during each concert’s free will offering. Children 18 and under are free.
