San Juan County 4-H invites you to celebrate local youth with this year’s Virtual Showcase Fair!

Fair week is swiftly approaching, and due to COVID-19, kids and teens around the county are hard at work finishing up their 4-H projects. This year they submit their entries for judging in the Virtual Showcase rather than bundling everything up and heading to the Fairgrounds on Entry Day. At the end of July, more than 70 entries have already been submitted from San Juan, Orcas, and Lopez Islands!

4-H youth will be submitting their projects online this year; with photos, videos, and written explanations of their projects. The range of projects is wide, from a LEGO build, or hand-knit hat, to a hog or one dozen quail eggs. Whatever the item, they are always demonstrating the life skills that they learn in 4-H. Judges will evaluate the photos and videos during fair week, then provide constructive feedback and placings.

Families will be able to join short live events during the week, culminating with the Recognition Ceremony that will take place the following Saturday, August 22.

Looking for ways to support 4-H Youth from afar? Be sure to join us for our Virtual Auctions! Using FairEntry, anyone is welcome to bid on eggs and poultry, livestock, baked goods and more produced by youth this year. Buyers will be able to review photos, other bids, and a statement explaining why their product is the one you want to choose! For those who would not like to purchase an item, there is also the option to “add on” to an individual or multiple 4-H members and make a contribution to their 4-H project funds. The “Still Life” (non-animal) Auction will begin Thursday, August 13 at 9 am and run through 8 pm on Saturday, August 15. This overlaps with the Livestock Auction, which starts at 8 pm on Friday, August 14, and closes at 8 pm on Saturday, August 15.

Interested bidders can visit to sign up to bid or learn more information.
