Orcas Island School District will host I Love Literacy, an evening of books and conversation on May 12 from 5:45 to 7 p.m for the school district community. The event is hosted by the Elementary and Montessori Public Schools’ School Improvement Teams. I Love Literacy is a celebration of the family-school connection and a place to share the love of reading! Books are geared toward preschool to age 11, but we welcome all ages to attend.

The event will feature four reading tents on campus, where members of the local community will share books and treats. This event will be live and in-person behind the elementary school building. Favorite readings will be presented by local leaders from the Orcas Island Library, Seadoc Society, Darvill’s Bookstore, the Orcas Island School District and reading specialists. Stories will be read in Spanish books by parents, students and school staff in the Spanish tent. The evening will include free book giveaways and prizes.
