On Nov. 1, the day after Halloween, Eth-Noh-Tec’s Nancy Wang will present the live recording of her most recent play “Shadows & Secrets,” a multimedia staged mystery radio play, about the suspicious death of her grandfather Chin F. Foin.
Chin was a very successful and prosperous restaurateur who knew how to use the newspapers’ journalists to address such issues as racism, political alliances, fame and celebration of family events, all for the purpose of continuing the popularity of his upscale restaurant The Mandarin Inn. Making him seem larger than average, Chin was both admired but also a threat to the enemy tong run by his nemesis Moy Dong Chew.
The Chins and the Moys have been enemies reaching all the way back to China. In Chicago 1924, how does this continue?
One too many attempts to right the wrongs? Was Chin’s untimely and suspicious death an accident or did someone push him down the elevator shaft of his restaurant where he landed four stories below?
Wang, his granddaughter, sets about to prove he was murdered and has gathered several suspects hoping two Irish cops will help her out.
Come to view and decide who the murderer was in this century-old cold case. Presented at the Orcas Senior Center, 8 Henry Road, on Nov. 1, 1:30 p.m. Optional donation appreciated.
