The following was submitted by the Orcas Island Park and Recreation District.

Volunteers needed for Orcas Island Park and Recreation District spring sports. The baseball and softball season is upon us with a variety of game opportunities on the island, in Friday Harbor, Lopez and the Skagit area. Practices begin the week of March 26. Games are played on Saturdays April 7 through June 2. Pre-registration is required. Registration deadline is March 12 for all baseball and softball players ages 7-13.

T-Ball begins the week of April 24 for ages 5 and 6 and will run on Tuesdays and Thursdays through May 24. Registration deadline for T-Ball is April 10.

Your early registration is greatly appreciated and will help us ensure uniforms and equipment are purchased and on hand for the start of the season. Scholarships and payment plans are available. We are looking for volunteers to help with coaching, team coordination, field prep, and officiating. Through participation in these programs, our island youth further develop strength in physical, social, emotional and psychological health while fostering meaningful connections with peers and adults; building a stronger community together. Play ball!
