Live music returns to the Village Green with a Summer Concert Series presented by Orcas Center, Orcas Song Farm, Country Corner and San Juan County.
The eclectic lineup will have something for everyone.
The Summer Concert Series kicks off June 18 after the Solstice Parade (beginning at noon), with performances from Star Guts, and Seattle’s Afro-Brazilian Dancers Bahia in Motion. Madison West takes the stage at 6 p.m., followed by the ever-popular Canadian folk-roots-country-pop band, Good Lovelies.
Subsequent weekend offerings include performances by Brubeck Brothers Quartet, Asleep at the Wheel, Charlie Porter Quintet, Youssoupha Sidibe, Drumspyder, Zan Fiskum, Grace McCune, LeRoy Bell, Lucky Tongue, The Pine Needles, Alpha Yaya Diallo, Rafe Pearlman and Friends, Jacob Miller, Harlan Silverman, and Martin Lund’s One World. The series is scheduled to close on Aug. 27 with Rise Up! The Music of Hamilton and Broadway.
Attendance is free thanks in part to concert sponsors Orcas Island Community Foundation, Gudgell Properties LLC, Doe Bay Resort, Pawki’s, SaviBank, Banner Bank, The Barnacle, Darvill’s Bookstore, WaFd Bank, Monkey Puzzle, Rainshadow Solar, Orcas Food Co-Op, Stoltz Kau Architects, Cherie L. Lindholm Real Estate, Girl Meets Dirt and Buck Bay Shellfish Farm.
“It’s wonderful to see our business community support this concert series,” Dimitri Stankevich, Orcas Center’s Executive Director says. “Since COVID began, it’s been challenging navigating what kind of events Orcas Center can produce. Being outside and enjoying great performances on the Village Green this summer seemed like the logical choice. We’re so pleased that we can bring such incredible talent to Orcas, and we couldn’t have done this without the generosity of our sponsors.”
