After 10 glorious years with The New Leaf Café, Chef Steve Debaste has moved to Buck Bay Shellfish Farm. The Bistro, Oyster & Wine Bar at Buck Bay is a collaboration of Debaste’s dream to open his own bistro-style restaurant and the long-time business plan of owners Mark and Toni to add a casual oyster and wine bar to their existing seafood market.
Our goal at Buck Bay is to bring you quality, fresh seafood from our local fishermen and island-grown produce from our bountiful organic gardens. Debaste will be serving a menu of bistro-style plates along with his favorite south of the Border flavors, ensuring a new and bright culinary experience for your palate. Yes, he may be French, but his pozole is delicious, here is your chance to try it!
Of course, Debaste is not the only local talent we are bringing to the farm. Our team is truly loaded with culinary professionals, eager and ready to rock Orcas Island with their spin on exciting creations. Drew Downing is our oyster and wine guru and dining manager; Avery Adams is our Creative Chef and Chef Mary Hydron is our Production Queen. Keep an eye out for our incredible serving team returning to shine this season.
Our Grand Opening is June 15. Come explore our updated Fish Market, inviting indoor and outdoor dining areas and picturesque views. Buck Bay will be open 7 days a week with several dinner events scheduled throughout the summer and fall. Daily menus will include house-made fish and chips, sliders, ceviche, crab cakes, house-made bread and a variety of dishes, including dessert!. We will also be offering a takeout menu and a selection of beer and wine to go.
