“The Diamonds” will appear on Friday, July 22 at 8 p.m. on Orcas Center’s main stage, playing rock and roll from the 1950s and 1960s.
They are appearing as part of the Orcas Center’s 25th Anniversary Celebration Gala and tickets for just the show are available.
In 1957, The Diamonds released an instant hit called “Little Darlin’.” The song continues to sell worldwide and has been dubbed “the National Anthem of Rock and Roll.” To date, it has sold approximately 20 million copies. The Diamonds’ many accomplishments include: 33 appearances on American Bandstand; Doo-Wop Hall of Fame; Vocal Group Hall of Fame; 16 hit records; three certified gold records; and on the soundtrack of “American Graffiti” and “Happy Days.”
The Diamonds continue to expand their audience to this day, performing in a variety of venues and settings worldwide.
“We’ve been pleased to find a growing audience among all age groups,” said the band. “They love songs they can understand, remember and actually sing the words to – today, tomorrow or even 20 years from now.”
Tickets are $25 and may purchased at www.orcascenter.org or by calling or visiting the Orcas Center box office during box office hours: Thursday, Friday and Saturday from noon to 4 p.m.
