Join Lopez Island’s Treetruck Farm (The Old Hastin Farm) at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 5 for an inaugural international documentary and story festival. This year’s gathering will be an exploratory daylong event, showcasing award winning documentary, art, film and photography from around the world. The event begins on Saturday afternoon with the launch of a large format photography exhibition in Lopez Village and on the farm, followed by workshops and a series of talks in the evening. The day will conclude with a community potluck and a screening of short films.
This festival is a response to today’s media climate and isolationist politics. Organizers believe strong bonds between storytellers, audience and subjects are more urgent today than ever before. Based on feedback from this event and conversations over the summer, we are planning a larger more formal event in 2018.
The event starts at 2 p.m. with a series of talks at 5:30 pl.m. and a potluck and screening at 7:30 p.m.
Directions: 208 Cape Saint Mary Road on the South end of Lopez. Turn right on Cape Saint Mary and look for the sign on your right a few hundred feet down the road.
