There are just three more performances left to see “The Cake,” Orcas Center’s Black Box production that islanders are calling, “charming, “funny” and “thought-provoking.”
Director Melinda Milligan reflects on her motive to create this production.
“I was given ‘The Cake’ play to read by a friend in South Carolina a few years ago and immediately fell in love with the writing, the humor and the poignant portrayal of its all-too-human characters,” she said. “Bekah Brunstetter (the author) takes a story seemingly ripped from the headlines and turns it into a thoughtful, sometimes unsettling, look at ourselves. I hope you love it as much as I do.”
The last three performances run on Sept. 21, 22, and 23 at 7 p.m. Please note: The Black Box Theatre at Orcas Center has limited seating, so there are only 40 tickets available each night. Tickets range from $15-$47 and are available at www.OrcasCenter.org, or by calling 360-376-2281 x 1. Parental guidance is suggested due to strong language and adult themes. Masking is required in the theatre.
