Prior to Thanksgiving, Bloodworks Northwest was already seeing a severe drop in donations for several blood types.

The holiday season is very busy, said drive organizers; they askeddonors to consider donating to help prevent blood shortages before the holidays. Blood centers across the nation historically experience severe inventory drops during this time.

You can donate blood at one of the following drives:

Orcas Island Blood Drive on Thursday, Dec. 14, from 11 a.m.–5 p.m. at the Eastsound fire station.

Lopez Island Blood Drive on Friday, Dec. 15, from 11 a.m.–5 p.m. (closed from 1:30–2:30 p.m.), at the Community Church.
