The San Juan County Fair has a small, but intrepid group of homebrewers and vintners who bring their creations and compete for the best of show each year. As you are probably aware, the fair will be virtual again this year so we can all be safe, but fair managers are allowing some exhibit superintendents to set up live judging of entries.
And, so it will be for beer and wine entries.
If you are a home vintner or brewer and have kept those fermenters busy during the pandemic and further want to know if others think your creation tastes as good as you think it tastes, you are encouraged to enter and find out.
Entries will be received in Friday Harbor from 2-6 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 10 at Cease and Desist Brewhouse, located at 10 Front St., Ste 105 (beneath NW corner of Downriggers restaurant). Live judging begins at 7 p.m. Entries will also be received on Monday, Aug. 9 from 1:30-3 p.m. at Island Hoppin’ Brewery, located at 33 Hope Ln., Eastsound, and taken to the judging.
Entry information (classifications, fees, premium book) is available at sjcfair.org.
