This first-ever Met: Live in HD broadcast of Wagner’s comedic epic “Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg” conducted by Met Music Director James Levine streams live to Orcas Center Sunday, Dec. 21 at 1 p.m.

The event will offer new backstage content and exclusive behind-the-scenes interviews with the extraordinary international cast.

Hosted by soprano Renée Fleming, who stars in the upcoming HD presentation of “The Merry Widow,” the opera’s intermissions will include:

• A visit to the Met’s costume shop with William Ivey Long, the winner of a record six Tony Awards for costume design about his upcoming work on Tony Award-winning director Susan Stroman’s  glittering new production of Lehár’s “The Merry Widow,” which streams  live to Orcas Center  on Jan. 18.

• An interview with Met Music Director James Levine as well as interviews with three musicians from the Met’s orchestra.

• A live view of the massive scene change between Acts 1 and 2 and an interview with Met technical director John Sellars about the enormous and realistic sets used in Otto Schenk’s  production, which is having its final revival this season.

• Behind-the-scenes interviews with the stars of the opera.
