What is the American Legion Auxiliary?

The American Legion Auxiliary on Orcas Island Unit # 93 was established in 1934 when it was at the old legion hall in Westsound. It is involved in the community in many ways. The organization makes financial donations to the YMCA Camp Orkila, gives scholarships for graduating seniors, funds Children’s House projects and Orcas Elementary school and serves lunch at the Orcas Food Bank Tuesday lunch several times a year. It also supports many veterans projects such as the VA Holiday Gift Shops, USO Airport Lounge, American Lake Veterans facility, Fisher House and Fircrest in Shoreline.
