Economic slump or not, local dance enthusiasts will grace the Orcas Center ballroom floor at the

“Hard Times Hop,” sponsored by the Orcas Dance Club, will be on Friday, Oct. 9. Dancing will start at 8 p.m. and continue past 11.

Decor, refreshments and music will all be minimal, in the spirit of the times. Dancers are encouraged to wear their “oldest, most worn-out, patched and darned, frayed and funky duds,” and to bring their own nibbles. 

Lemonade will be served, and wine and beer may be purchased by the bottle. Music will be provided by veteran disc jockey Lynn Richards, and will run a wide gamut of danceable offerings to suit all ages and tastes.
