Continuing its December “Shop the Rock” campaign, the Orcas Island Chamber of Commerce is adding a twist to the second part of the promotion that will award $100 to a lucky winner.

On Friday, Dec. 10 the chamber is enhancing the contest, inviting anyone who visits a Chamber-member business on that day to answer the question: “Why Do You Shop Local?”

All customers who spend $20 or more on Friday are automatically eligible to enter the contest, but anyone else can enter the contest by providing the chamber with their answer to the question: “Why Do You Shop Local?”

“The chamber and its member businesses know that shopping locally benefits Orcas Island in many ways,” said executive director Lance Evans. “This ‘Shop the Rock’ promotion will let island residents share the reasons they choose to make their purchases on Orcas Island.”

The winner of the Dec. 10 promotion will be announced on Thursday, Dec. 16.
