The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) Ferries Division announced that the 144-car Elwha will return to the Anacortes/San Juan Islands route at the start of the service day on Saturday morning, August 16. The ferry completed sea trials today and is scheduled to arrive in Anacortes later this evening, August 15. The Elwha was removed from service on August 6 because of a problem with the propulsion control cooling system, which has now been repaired.
“We apologize for the inconvenience our customers experienced because of the problem with the Elwha,” said David Moseley, Assistant Secretary, Ferries Division. “Our repair crews worked hard to return the vessel to service as quickly as possible. I want to thank our San Juan Islands customers for their patience.”
The 90-car Sealth, which filled in while the Elwha was out for repairs, will return to stand-by status at WSDOT’s Eagle Harbor Maintenance Facility.
