The San Juan County Sheriff’s Office responded to the following calls.

July 24

• A San Juan resident reported her dog was bitten by another dog in their neighborhood. The bitten dog was taken to the vet and treated for two small puncture wounds on the back leg and returned home. Deputies contacted the owners of the suspect dog and took a report.

• A deputy in Friday Harbor investigated a threat via email. It was determined the threat was unfounded. A report of the incident was made.

• An Orcas deputy was dispatched to deal with an animal problem and issued the dog’s owner a citation for it being a public nuisance.

• A deputy on Orcas took a report of a suspicious person on Shaw. The person who called in the report said an unidentified person asked about purchasing illegal drugs. There were no investigative leads.

• A deputy received a report of an abandoned vehicle on Orcas. The vehicle was discovered to be on private property.

• A deputy on Orcas responded to a possible harassment call near Deer Harbor. An investigation determined that no crime was committed.

• An Orcas deputy stopped the driver of a vehicle for driving 50 MPH in a 35 MPH zone and issued them a citation for speeding.

• A deputy on San Juan answered a report of a domestic incident and talked to both people involved.

• Deputies on San Juan responded to a disturbance at a recent outdoor concert after a person was causing a disruption, making people uncomfortable, and reportedly spitting “aggressively” on the ground in front of someone. The person was ultimately trespassed from the property.

July 25

• Deputies were dispatched to a single-vehicle traffic accident on San Juan. The deputy arrived and located a single vehicle that was off the roadway. The driver was not on the scene and the vehicle was later reported stolen.

• A deputy on Orcas took a suspicious circumstance case involving a boater on a private beach.

• Orcas deputies responded to a person in crisis, but the person refused assistance.

• A San Juan deputy responded to a report of property found in a USPS box. Since the owner of the property could not be contacted, the items were entered into evidence for safekeeping.

• San Juan deputies responded to a report of a domestic incident. Investigation revealed that the incident was verbal.

July 26

• A Lopez deputy was dispatched to a report of found property. After the owner could not be reached, deputies booked the property into evidence

• A driver on Lopez received a warning after being stopped by a deputy for driving a bit too fast.

• A Lopez deputy was dispatched to a citizen assist.

• Responding to a parking problem on Lopez, a deputy placed a 72-hour notice on the vehicle causing the problem.

July 27

• A deputy issued a warning to a Lopez driver who was exceeding the speed limit.

• A Lopez deputy was flagged down on Fisherman Bay Road.

• Lopez deputies responded to a possible drowning. Fortunately, the diver surfaced a short time later without issues.

• A San Juan deputy responded to a report of threats. After an investigation revealed the suspect had threatened to kill another person, deputies arrested the suspect, who was then booked into jail for felony harassment.

• A driver traveling on Mud Bay Road was stopped and cited for speeding – 63 mph in a 35 mph zone.

July 28

• A deputy on San Juan responded to a report that several people boated to Friday Harbor from a different island after being bitten while breaking up a dog fight. None of the individuals wanted the dogs to face issues.

July 29

• On Lopez, both EMS and a deputy helped a family that was dealing with a health incident agree to a plan of action.

• Lopez deputies responded to a non-criminal domestic dispute, offered both parties resources, and encouraged them to seek space from each other.

• The San Juan Sheriff’s office was notified that an individual with an outstanding warrant turned himself in.

July 30

• A Lopez deputy was dispatched to a non-injury accident at the ferry terminal.

July 31

• An early morning call to deputies about a possible burglary in Eastsound prompted an investigation and resulted in the arrest of a suspect for second-degree criminal trespass, who was then transported to Friday Harbor.
