Emmanuel Episcopal Parish and the Music Committee will present its organist and choir director Marianne Lewis on Wednesday, Aug. 9, at noon. This will be her 11th performance at the Brown Bag concerts.
Lewis is a graduate of Lewis and Clark College and the University of Oregon, where she studied with Lee Garrett, Edith Kilbuck and Guy Bovet. In addition to playing the organ, Marianne is a harpsichordist, and pianist. She has performed with the Portland Baroque Orchestra, Portland Symphonic Girls Choir, Symphonie Concertante, Bravo Vancouver, Cappella Romana and the Orcas Choral Society. This fall Lewis will be the interim conductor of the Orcas Choral Society. The program is all Johann Sebastian Bach and will include Prelude and Fugue in c minor, Chorale Prelude “Von Gott will ice night lassen,” “I shall not abandon God,” fantasia in C and conclude with Prelude and Fugue in a minor.
Bring your friends and enjoy a half hour of music followed by a brown bag lunch in the church gardens. There is no charge but the Music Committee appreciates donations to help fund the Virgil Cleveland Memorial Scholarship Fund.
