Berger to perform on Aug. 10

Folk singer Carl Berger to be featured at the Brown Bag Concert at Emmanuel Episcopal Parish on Wednesday, Aug. 10. Berger, who has a great sense of humor says that again this year: justice, equality and fairness in music hit Orcas Island, as his program should dilute the world-class musicianship on display at the opposite end of Eastsound!

Berger began his music career by learning chords on his dad’s uke. In high school he played the obligatory guitar and banjo in the obligatory folk duo with his best friend. Music sustained Berger throughout college, grad school and the U.S. Army. Twenty years as California State Park Ranger provided ample opportunities for musical humor, as a badged bureaucrat.

The program begins with “Walk Right In,” and ends with “Blow Up Your iPhone.”

The concert starts at noon, but come early for a seat. There is no admission charge, but donations are appreciated for the Virgile Cleveland Memorial Scholarship which is awarded every year to a deserving Orcas music student.
