Coffee and conversation about the school bond

The Orcas Island School Board wants to hear from the public before going out for a new construction bond in August.

“We’ve heard a lot of ideas, but have we heard from you?” say board members. “This is your chance to tell us what you liked or what you didn’t like about the bond last time around. Our Orcas public schools are in dire need of repairs and replacement. We need to pass the bond, but we cannot do it without you.”

Many community members asked the board for neighborhood gatherings to voice concerns and make suggestions, and on Sunday, April 18 they will have the chance to do that during four home-hosted coffee hours. The public can attend the get-togethers at noon in Eastsound, Olga, or Crow Valley, or 4 p.m. in Eastsound.

There will be a school board member at each of the homes. They will come with an open mind and a blank notebook. To RSVP call Marian at 376-1402 or email her at marian@bokubooks.com.
