A report by an Orcas Island website that “Barefoot Burglar” Colton Harris-Moore has been caught on Waldron Island is a hoax, Sheriff Bill Cumming said Thursday.

“That’s a pretty good joke, and I wish it was true,” he said. “Some day we will report it, and it won’t be a joke.”

The report – attributed to CNN – appeared on OrcasIssues.com. It has since been removed.
