First $1,000 matched for giving opportunity Aug. 15 to Aug. 18

This month, San Juan residents can help their neighbors engaged in mental health and substance use disorder treatment by supporting Compass Health’s campaign through the San Juan Island Community Foundation’s (SJICF) annual fundraising initiative, SJI Cares.

From Thursday, Aug. 15, to Saturday, August 18, Compass Health will be raising donations for its “Therapeutic Treatment Enhancement Funds.” These funds help clients access basic needs resources to remove roadblocks to recovery.

Compass Health’s campaign is part of SJICF’s 2024 County Fair Giving Campaign, which invites community members to donate to local non-profits. The first $1,000 in community-raised donations will be matched dollar-for-dollar by the Community Foundation. In total, Compass Health is hoping to raise $5,000.

“Therapeutic Treatment Enhancement Funds help remove common barriers to care that clients may face, such as transportation issues or financial insecurity. From providing taxi vouchers to assisting with household expenses, these funds can significantly impact a client’s ability to achieve stability and improve their overall well-being,” said Valarie Mitchell, Program Manager for San Juan Outpatient Services at Compass Health. “We’re extremely grateful to the community for its support in ensuring these funds are available to allow clients to remain focused on their recovery goals.”

For those who would like to donate to Compass Health’s campaign and have their contribution matched, donations must be made during the four days of the 2024 County Fair, taking place between Aug. 15 and Aug.18. Contributions can be made at this unique link which goes live on Aug. 15: https://sjicf.fcsuite.com/erp/donate/create/grant?grant_id=16252. Community members can also donate in-person at the SJICF fair booth, online at www.sjif.org/fair, by phone to SJICF at 360-378-1001, or by mailing a check payable to SJICF with Compass Health in the memo line to P.O.
