On Wednesday, Sept. 17, a County Sheriff’s Deputy shot and killed a dog he was investigating near the Golf Course.
The deputy was responding to a report of the dog attacking another person who was walking their dog, Sheriff Bill Cumming said. It was the second report on the same dog, Cumming believes.
At about 6 p.m., when the Deputy got out of his car and approached the dog owner’s home, the dog, a pit bull-type, aggressively met the deputy.
According to the deputy’s report, the dog was in attack mode, and the deputy first used his baton to protect himself, and then shot and killed the dog.
Cumming said, “All dogs possess the ability to be a danger to humans and other dogs, and dog owners are cautioned that they’re responsible for their dogs at all times.
“We take reports of dogs being aggressive towards others very seriously, and will investigate all reports to make sure the public is safe.”
