David Michael and Michael Mandrell will perform an evening of Celtic harp and acoustic guitar at Random Howse on Friday, May 13 at 7:30 p.m.
Michael and Mandrell are a duo featuring contemporary fingerstyle guitar and Celtic harp.
Their music offers equal parts world and new age, an array of middle Eastern rhythms and scales, with tinges of folk and an infusion of Celtic overtones. They have a strong sense of Western musical roots, yet make beautiful and sophisticated forays into the music of the East. Their pieces are lyrical-the stuff fairy tales are made of, slightly jazzy, seductively smooth and consistently beautiful. Add in some traditional Irish tunes, fantastic storytelling and a few songs and you have the makings of an exquisite evening. These two musicians have been featured on network and cable television, documentary films, and Public Radio International’s “Echoes” with host John Diliberto (syndicated on over 150 stations). More than just accomplished performers, prolific composers and recording artists, they’re renowned for their on-stage synergy.
This is their first concert appearance on Orcas Island.
