The United Way asks volunteers to “Show Up and Clean Up” at this year’s Day of Caring. The event takes place on Orcas, Lopez, and San Juan Islands on Saturday, Sept. 12.
Orcas volunteers are invited to join members of Lions, Kiwanis, and Odd Fellows on the clean up crew from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Registration takes place next to Orcas Center. Two-hour shifts are available. Volunteers are asked to bring clippers, spades, and wheelbarrows if possible.
Chair Candace Bodenhamer and other United Way board members will provide coffee and cookies for the cleanup crews on the Vitality Trail, at Orcas Center, and the Senior Center.
“Show Up and Clean Up” kicks off United Way’s fall fundraising campaign. Monies raised will provide grants for human service organizations in the county.
