The deadline for county residents to register to vote in the general election in November is Friday, Oct. 3.
The San Juan County Elections office says residents can register to vote if
– You are be a citizen of the United States by birth or naturalization.
– You are eighteen years old on or before Election Day (17 1/2 year olds can pre-register)
– You have not been denied your civil rights as a result of a felony conviction (you can register if your civil rights have been restored by sentencing court or parole board).
– You reside in the county 30 days before the next election to vote in that election.
Also, residents are advised they can register by completing a Mail-In Voter Registration Form when:
– You have moved into Washington State.
– You have moved into a new county.
– You have changed your name.
– You are not registered and would like to be.
– You will be turning 18 years old by Nov. 4.
Registrants must provide their legal name, date of birth, driver’s license number or the last four digits of their Social Security Number, residence address, and signature.
The Washington State Mail-In Voter Registration Form can be downloaded from the website, or can be obtained from one of many locations throughout the county: Town of Friday Harbor, State Agencies (Department of Motor Vehicles, Social Services etc), and the public libraries on Orcas, San Juan, and Lopez Islands.

Those who have recently moved to Washington State, may register in person at your county elections department no later than 15 days before the election at the Elections Department at 350 Court Street, Friday Harbor, WA 98250. Those who have moved to San Juan County from another county in Washington need to register their previous voter registration address, and those who have moved within the county need to call the Elections office and request a change of address. This process can be completed over the phone or by e-mail message to: elections@co.san-juan.wa.us.
(The County Elections department will accept registration forms postmarked on Saturday, Oct. 4 or emailed on that date.)
Registrations received after the deadline will be processed for the next election.
