For the second year running, Doe Bay Resort is hosting a 4-star BBQ with all proceeds benefiting The Funhouse.
Chef Abigael Birrell will serve up Charred Spiced Oaxcan Fish Tacos with salsa verde, charred tomato-mint salsa, pickled cabbage and lime, black bean, jicama and quinoa salad with toasted cumin vinaigrette, and horchata (traditional Mexican cinnamon rice milk).
Commitment to the local youth and community has inspired Doe Bay Resort to host the event again.
“Doe Bay Resort is committed to being a good neighbor and the Funhouse makes Orcas the coolest neighborhood in the islands,” resort assistant manager and Funhouse board member Jami Mitchell said. “Visitors are especially impressed with The Funhouse and recognize it as an incredible asset, especially for a community of our size.”
“The Funhouse thanks Jami, The Doe Bay Resort and Joe and Maureen Brotherton for providing the wonderful food and venue,” Pete Moe, Funhouse Executive Director, said. “And we thank them for their continual support of The Funhouse and Orcas youth. ”
The family-friendly event will take place May 29 and goes from 3 to 5 p.m.
Adult dinners are $18. Freshly grilled quesadillas will be cooked up for kids, who can eat for free.
