One of the oldest Non-Profit Service Agencies of our Island communities is asking for your input.
Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Services of the San Juan Islands is pleased to announce the increase of its direct client services. It is now expanding to offer social service case management and other services for youth and young adult clients ages 13 to 23. To reflect this expansion of services the board of directors and staff have decided to change the name of this long standing agency to: SAFE San Juans.
SAFE stands for social change, advocacy, transformation and education. The new tagline is: Empowering our islands to live free of abuse. It will continue to offer the same excellent professional services the community has come to expect over the last 20 plus years. All of the staff are completing the additional training required to stay relevant and culturally competent in this expansion of services.
As it makes this change it asks for your involvement. Your voice is important to us as it finalizes the decision on it new logo. Stop by the booth at the San Juan County Fair to cast your vote on the three final options. By voting, you will be entered to win either a beautiful king size hand stitched quilt (valued at more than $300) donated by the Enchanted Quilters of Lopez Island or an Amazon gift card. If you can’t make it to the fair this year then let your vote count by logging onto its website at: www.DVSASsanjuans.org and follow the link for an online voting option.
Also, if you are between the ages of 13 and 19 stop by the booth to let your voice be heard in your own special survey and voting process and to get a cool free henna tattoo and enter to win a top of the line pair of Beats headphones (donated by the Stand Up Men).
Other exciting developments are in the near future of SAFE San Juans so please watch for further press releases as it shares the excitement or its growth process with you.
See you at the fair!
