The Washington State Department of Ecology awarded Eastsound Sewer and Water District with the 2015 Outstanding Wastewater Treatment Plant Award on Nov. 8.
“The exceptional performance of wastewater treatment at the Eastsound Wastewater Treatment Plant in 2015 demonstrates a prime example of Ecology’s goal for wastewater treatment plants statewide,” said Water Quality Section Manager Mark Henley in a letter to the district. “We are pleased to offer our congratulations and appreciation to your operating staff for this year’s outstanding success.”
Recognized for its continued operation achievement, ESWD was commended on maintaining compliance under the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System.
“We would like to acknowledge that staying within compliance requires a dedicated team effort from a wide-ranging, experience and devoted staff,” Henley wrote. “Collaboratively, your team serves a vital function to protect Washington state’s water quality today and into the future.”
