Election results are in | Orcas fire levy rejected

As of press time, 1,700 ballots were left to be counted. According to the San Juan County Elections Office staff of 14,725 registered voters and ballots sent, 48% of those ballots were returned. The results are as follows:

Fire Protection District No. 2 (Orcas) Proposition No. 1 – Restoring Regular Property Tax Levy failed by 74.88% (1,055) to 25.12% (354).

Lopez had two levies on the ballot. One failed while the other passed: San Juan County Public Hospital District #2 (Lopez) Proposition No. 1 – Restoring Regular Property Tax Levy passed by 64.12% (583) to 35.79 % (325) and Lopez Solid Waste Disposal District Proposition No. 1 — Excess Property Tax Levy for 2024 passed 83.77% (774) to 16.23% (150)

Many of the races were uncontested. The results are: DN Kinsey, David Lowry, Michael Stolmeier and Eric Allan Sturtz are Eastsound Sewer and Water District commissioners; Chelsie Guilford and Mark Salierno are San Juan County Public Hospital District #3 Hospital Commissioners; and Dennis Dahl and Aysa Eberle are Orcas Park and Rec Commissioners.
