The fourth in a series of five family dance parties will be held at Odd Fellows Hall from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 3. The first three parties were a big hit, with dozens of families enjoying toe-tapping music and rollicking fun.
Kate Long, Children’s House Board Member, conceived of the dance parties as a fun way for the Orcas preschools to make some money and come together in a spirit of cooperation.
Participating schools include Children’s House, Kaleidoscope, Orcas Montessori School, and Salmonberry School. Each school is responsible for planning one dance, with a fifth dance to be hosted by Orcas Family Connections. The proceeds from the dances are pooled and will be distributed evenly amongst the schools.
“I had heard great things about the family dance parties in the past and it sounded like a good time to start them up again,” Long said. “It is so fun to see kids from all the schools and their families get together and dance!”
The Oct. 3 dance will be hosted by Orcas Montessori School. A donation of $4 for one person, $6 for two, and $10 for a family of three or more is suggested. However, all families with young children are welcome and encouraged to come, regardless of ability to pay. Light refreshments will be available for purchase. All children must be accompanied by an adult. Odd Fellows Hall is located at 112 Haven Road in Eastsound.
