The Farm Education and Sustainability for Teens program will offer “Solar Energy and Appropriate Technology” workshops over the next few weeks. The first, on Thursday, July 28, will cover energy fundamentals and solar basics. Participants will start building the solar cookers that will be displayed during the EcoFest, as well as efficient wood cooking stoves called “Rocket Stoves.”
August 2 will be solar thermal day, with solar hot water systems and more solar cookers. August 4 will be solar electric day, with classroom teaching and hands-on assembly of solar-electric photovoltaic systems.
