An anonymous donor has generously created a fund at Orcas Center to underwrite free and discounted tickets for those unable to afford attendance at Orcas Center performances. This donor offered the following rationale for the gift: “I realize that Orcas Center must charge for events in order to pay for the cost of performances, while on the other hand there are those who would like to attend events at the Center but simply cannot afford to pay the price. I hope this money will enable these folks to get tickets so they might enjoy the wonderful programming we are so fortunate to have at Orcas Center.”
Orcas Center’s free tickets are available to low income families and students. Deeply discounted tickets are available to community members living on fixed incomes, such as seniors.
The center works closely with the island’s schools and day-care centers, distributing vouchers for selected Orcas Center performances. Orcas Center is also working in partnership with the Senior Center on the distribution of significantly discounted tickets through the Senior Lunch Program.
Orcas Center invites economically challenged individuals and families, students and seniors to take advantage of this generous gift to attend performances. Also, representatives of organizations serving low-income community members are encouraged to help Orcas Center reach those constituents.
