Brian Lynn Borquist, 41, of Friday Harbor, has been charged with possession of heroin.
On Nov. 9, 2017, Borquist was arrested for having two outstanding warrants for failing to appear for a hearing in a district court case. According to the probable cause documents, a San Juan County deputy found a grey bag with multiple syringes and two spoons with a cotton-like substance on the bottom. Later the substance tested positive for heroin, according to court documents.
On Feb. 25, a deputy arrested Borquist on an outstanding felony warrant for not appearing in court after the Nov. 9 drug charge. The deputy allegedly found heroin in Bourquist’s pocket, according to court documents. While booking Borquist, the deputy found methamphetamine in the accused’s property. If found guilty of possession of heroin, Borquist could face a maximum 5 years in jail or a $10,000 fine.
He has a hearing set Friday, March 2 at 2 p.m. in San Juan County Superior Court. According to San Juan County Prosecuting Attorney Teresa Barnett, Borquist has a history of not showing up to scheduled hearings. She requested bail on each case and the judge released him on personal recognizance each time.
Borquist’s record includes criminal trespass, driving under the influence, theft and reckless driving.
