After listening to the reaction to the proposed development standards for the Orcas Village Activity center at meetings on March 12th and 18th, 2008 the San Juan County Community Development and Planning Department has agreed to seek additional specific input on the land uses proposed for the area.
Attendees, which included a number of builders, expressed concern that the proposed standards – developed with citizen input in six meetings since July 2007 – were too restrictive.
In response to suggestions received at the recent meetings, County planners have created an interactive copy of the proposed land use table that citizens can access on-line and suggest changes. The Land Use Tables are posted on the County Website: www.sanjuanco.com. The “Bulletin Board” section of the county home page will include a direct link to the interactive table and other information. The deadline for filling in the permit standards table will be March 26th, 2008.
The Community Development and Planning Department will tabulate the results stemming from the online form and consider them while finalizing a recommended version of the Orcas Village Plan to the Planning Commission.
