The San Juan County Sheriff’s Office responded to the following calls.
Feb. 8
• A deputy was summoned to PeaceHealth Medical Center because a subject was uncooperative with staff. The subject was in violation of a juvenile court order and was taken into custody.
Feb. 9
• A deputy responded to a 911 call from a Lopez Island resident after her family member started hyperventilating from an ongoing conflict with another family member. No crime or medical response was needed.
• A deputy responded to an Eastsound business in regards to found property. The business employees attempted to contact the owners with no luck and a report was taken.
• An Orcas deputy responded to a call that a citizen’s vehicle, which had been parked on the side of the road due to heavy snow, was broken into and tools were taken. The investigation continues.
• A deputy was dispatched to a harassment report in Friday Harbor. Both parties agreed to stay apart.
• An Orcas citizen called to report an ongoing issue with loose cattle in the Doe Bay area. An informational report was taken.
Feb. 10
• A deputy responded to a reported commercial burglary in Eastsound, where the victim estimated up to $30,000 worth of merchandise was taken. The investigation continues.
• A deputy was dispatched to a collision that occurred the night before in Friday Harbor. The driver was not injured and a report was taken.
• A Friday Harbor resident reported to the sheriff’s office that someone filed an income tax return under his name and social security number. He filed a report and notified his banks and credit card companies.
• A Lopez deputy was dispatched for a roommate dispute.
Feb. 11
• A Friday Harbor resident brought an iPhone and case, found near Sunshine Alley, to the dispatch.
• A Friday Harbor resident reported a dog at large. When deputies checked, the dog’s owners were out of town. Copies of the county’s animal ordinances will be given to them when they return.
• A Friday Harbor deputy ticketed a driver for speeding on Beaverton Valley Road.
• San Juan Island deputies received a report of an unwanted person, who was contacted and warned against trespassing on the property.
• A Friday Harbor deputy received a report of a person with mental problems. The person was contacted, the issue was resolved and the report was classified by the deputy as rape/attempted rape.
• San Juan Island deputies investigated a report of a license plate that was placed on a vehicle that did not belong to the owner of the vehicle.
Feb. 12
• Friday Harbor deputies investigated a domestic disturbance, which turned out to only be verbal so no action was taken.
• A deputy responded to a reference to a possible DUI in the 4100 block of Roche Harbor Road. The driver was located and arrested for DUI.
• A Lopez deputy responded to a reported utility pole down blocking the road. An investigation showed the pole was struck by a vehicle that had left the scene and the investigation continues.
Feb. 13
• A citizen contacted an Orcas Deputy in regards to found jewelry on her property. A report was taken.
Feb. 14
• An Orcas deputy responded to a report of a vehicle prowl in Eastsound, where the vehicle’s window was busted, but no items were stolen.
• An Orcas deputy was contacted by a citizen regarding an ongoing family dispute and a report was taken.
Feb. 15
• A deputy responded to a Lopez Island residence, who pointed a loaded gun at her ex-husband. She was taken into custody for a mental health evaluation and an investigation for Assault 2nd Degree – Domestic Violence is being conducted.
• A deputy was dispatched to a welfare check in Friday Harbor. The subject was transported to a medical facility for further evaluation.
