Local scientists and volunteers invite the community to join them at Eastsound Waterfront Park as they conduct surveys of fish and inter-tidal creatures on low tide days during the spring and summer. Visitors will learn about the unique marine life of our home waterfront.
The next field research day is Thursday, April 21 at the lowest tide between 1:30 and 3:30 p.m. We will be seining and identifying forage fish in the eelgrass meadows.
The newly published Indian Island Field Guide can be bought at Darvill’s Bookstore for $2.99. This helpful key identifies species specific to the Indian Island inter-tidal zone.
The group will meet at the tide pools around the island.
“Wear appropriate footwear (wet sand, gravel, shallow water), and come on down to the beach!” organizers say.
