To meet the demand for free or affordable daily rides and deliveries on Orcas Island, the non- profit IslandRides service is accepting applications for a local coordinator. The coordinator will help recruit, train and dispatch volunteers driving an electric vehicle making trips daily on Orcas Island. The person will help develop and document the service as part of an emerging benefit to islanders who do not drive. Following are some expectations for the position: recruit, train and give orientation of volunteer drivers; assure availability of equipment in clean working condition; submit driver logs and restock supplies; notify the director of any accident or equipment discrepancy; occasionally substitute for an absent driver; promote the IslandRides program with photos and success stories.
