Local musician and philanthropist Jim Bredouw will serve as interim executive director of Orcas Center for the Performing Arts.
Bredouw is replacing Tom Fiscus as Interim Executive Director effective July 16, 2018. Fiscus took a sabbatical from his local law practice to step into the position this past March.
We are appreciative of Jim’s willingness to work helping Orcas Center in its evolution. And Orcas Center owes a huge debt of gratitude to Tom Fiscus who heroically stepped up to navigate the transition from Brian Kemp’s directorship to today,” said Board President Cynthia Abolin.
Fiscus says he is “grateful” for the board’s support.
“It has been a terrific experience to learn the innermost workings of the center team with its excellent staff and volunteers. Thanks also to Jim for stepping in so I can return to something approaching normal life!” he said.
Bredouw, who was one of the first commissioners for the Orcas Park and Recreation District, founded the Funhouse Commons and has been a composer, musical director and performer for numerous shows at Orcas Center.
He met with the board on June 28 to offer his services as interim director.
“I think it’s important as a director to be able to understand both a financial statement and a performer’s experience as well,” Bredouw said.
In accepting his offer, the board cited Bredouw’s “business experience in operating recording studios in Los Angeles, his consistent support for Orcas Center and his deep connections to local performing artists.”
